And that’s the key point: shared responsibility isn’t a security requirement unique to TensorWave. It’s the standard model used by major cloud providers, because no provider can see or safely control what you choose to run, who you give access to, or how you configure your workloads.

And that’s the key point: shared responsibility isn’t a security requirement unique to TensorWave. It’s the standard model used by major cloud providers, because no provider can see or safely control what you choose to run, who you give access to, or how you configure your workloads.

A simple way to think about it: an apartment building with a high-performance compute lab inside. Security works when each party protects the part they actually control and can prove it.


Who Owns Which Risk in This Apartment Building

Our job is to make sure the building is a safe, stable place for your infrastructure to run continuously, measurably, and without surprises.

That includes:

 * Power reliability (the lights never go out)
   We design for uptime with redundancy and operational controls so your compute doesn’t depend on “best effort.”
 * Physical security (locks, cameras, controlled access)
   The facility itself must be defended: who can enter, when, and under what supervision.
 * Liquid cooling (the AC for high-density AI)
   Modern GPUs run hot under sustained load. Liquid cooling keeps performance predictable at scale.
 * Isolation (the “thick walls”)
   In multi-tenant environments, one neighbor should never be able to see, touch, or influence another neighbor’s workloads.

This is the layer we own and the layer we’re accountable for.


You are the tenant (but you’re not alone)

You’re responsible for what you bring into the apartment and who you hand keys to. That’s true in every cloud. The good news: this isn’t “all on you.” It’s mostly about making a few core choices explicit and repeatable.

That includes:

 * Identity and access: who can log in, what they can do, and how access is granted/revoked
 * Your data: classification, encryption choices, retention, and governance
 * Your configurations: networking, storage permissions, secrets management, and operational hygiene
 * Your people and process: onboarding/offboarding, least privilege, audits, incident response

A provider can harden the building, but they can’t safely override your access rules or guess which data is sensitive.


Your AI model is the jewelry box

Even in a perfectly secured building, you still lock the jewelry box.

At the model layer, you own:

 * Protecting “the brain”: model weights, proprietary prompts, training data, and IP
 * Safety rules: guardrails, content policies, and defenses against prompt injection or leakage
 * Secure usage: which apps and users can call the model, what gets logged, and what never should

If the building is hardened but the jewelry box is open, the outcome is still a breach… just a more confusing one.


The Real Failure Mode: The Invisible Fence

Most security gaps don’t look like gaps. They look like reasonable defaults that quietly stick around.

 * “The provider covers security.”
 * “We’ll tighten access later.”
 * “We’ll add guardrails after the prototype works.”
 * “We’ll deal with compliance once enterprise asks.”

Nothing breaks immediately, so the risk stays invisible… until an enterprise customer asks for proof, an auditor asks for controls, or an incident forces you to map the boundary you never wrote down.

That’s why shared responsibility isn’t a slogan. It’s a set of explicit lines; provider, tenant, model that should be documented, tested, and reviewed like any other part of the stack.

What This Means for AI Builders

If you’re building AI products, especially with enterprise customers on your roadmap, treat shared responsibility like an engineering boundary, not a marketing phrase.


Provider questions you should be able to answer (with proof)

 * What security and compliance standards do you maintain (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.)?
 * How is physical access controlled and logged?
 * How do you enforce tenant isolation?
 * What does incident response look like?
 * What redundancy exists for power, cooling, and operations?


Internal questions your team should own (and can operationalize)

 * Who has access to production and how is it reviewed?
 * Where are secrets stored and how are they rotated?
 * How do you protect data in transit and at rest?
 * What guardrails prevent prompt injection and unintended disclosure?
 * What’s your plan for model IP protection and safe deployment?

(These don’t need to be perfect on day one. They need to be intentional, then improved as you scale.)
